European shipping and logistics company DFDS has increased the frequency of its multimodal transport between the UK and Italy to a daily service. Throughout the UK and Italy, DFDS offer daily departures for partial and full loads of cargo loaded into containers, trailers or onto swap bodies.
In the UK, the units are transported by road to Immingham or Felixstowe, and by sea to Rotterdam or Zeebrugge. Upon arrival, the cargo is loaded onto rail for transportation to the Novara or Piazenca rail terminals near Milan in Italy. The rail and sea transport network includes daily departures in both directions.
“The daily departures to and from Italy enable us to offer customers a more flexible and reliable service. We have seen an increased demand for environment-friendly solutions that offer daily departures with short lead times. We are therefore very pleased with this new set-up, which will meet those demands,” says Thierry Versluis, Route Manager at Logistics Immingham and manager responsible for the UK–Italy service.
